Climate Change Communication & Engagement Strategy: Guiding Local Climate Action in Myanmar
The Climate Change Communication & Engagement Strategy, developed under the MCCA2 Programme, serves as a comprehensive framework for disseminating information, conducting research, promoting education, raising awareness, and building capacity. This strategy empowers a wide range of stakeholders, including local communities, academics, civil society organizations, and the private sector, to contribute to local climate action.
The strategy outlines specific mechanisms to inform, educate, and mobilize diverse audiences to address climate challenges and take action. It encourages individuals and groups to express their concerns, share innovative solutions, and advocate for change based on their experiences, cultural contexts, and values. The strategy’s primary focus is on fostering resilience and driving sustainable responses to the local and national impacts of climate change in Myanmar.
Key Objectives:
- Enhance access to reliable climate information by creating a ‘Climate Action Knowledge Portal,’ which offers a wealth of climate-related knowledge, including local and regional data, tools, and resources to support evidence-based local climate actions.
- Cultivate a network of climate actors, partner organizations, CSOs, and volunteers to serve as “Climate Change Ambassadors,” effectively engaging and inspiring local communities, educational institutions, youth, and women’s groups to undertake both personal and collective mitigation and adaptation initiatives.
- Strengthen climate change literacy and technical capacity, improving the adaptive capabilities of various audiences and motivating climate actors to take decisive action.
