Project Overview

Title: Save Food, Save World! It’s an individual’s work!
Location: South Okkalapa Township and Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region.
Duration:  Planned (estimated project duration: From  6th January 2025 to 17th January 2025)

About the Initiative

This initiative focuses on the issue of food waste in Yangon, which contributes considerably to greenhouse gas emissions. Most people don’t know that food waste might contribute to climate change. By raising awareness and promoting sustainable habits, we hope to reduce food waste and its environmental effects.

Why This Matters?

The project will begin with an online educational movie which will promote awareness about the negative impacts of food waste in climate change and will encourage sustainable action. After this, a poster competition will be held. The winning posters will be shown both online and in some restaurants in two Townships of Yangon (South Okkalapa and Thingangyun). It would result in a good campaign that could reach both online and offline audiences.

Expected Impact

This project will help to promote sustainability and reduce food waste. We engage diverse populations and encourage sustainable behavior across several platforms by reaching out to restaurant guests, competition participants, and internet audiences.

Community Engagement

The project will have a long-term impact by encouraging people to make more sustainable decisions in their daily lives. The poster competition encourages community involvement by allowing people to contribute their creative ideas for raising awareness about food waste. The internet video increases engagement by educating a larger audience. This dual approach” in-person and online” allows everyone to join in the fight to reduce food waste.

Innovative and Scalable Solution

This project is so unique that it mixes education, creativity, and community engagement. The utilization of an internet video followed by a creative competition provides a dynamic and engaging technique to raise awareness. Displaying the winning posters at restaurants combines community expression and public education, making the message more accessible and appealing to a wider audience.

Sustainability & Duplicability

Our project’s low-cost, community-driven strategy ensures its viability. The combination of a video and a community-driven poster competition is easily replicated, allowing for expansion into new locations. This scalable strategy is adaptable to different places, encouraging sustainability and raising awareness about food waste and its relationship to climate change.

Additional Information

It addresses food waste, offering a natural answer to climate change. It includes innovative approaches to reach a large audience, including both restaurant patrons and the general public, so increasing the effect of our message. The project’s dual online and offline approach broadens its reach and promotes long-term awareness.
