Title: Raising Public Awareness on the Importance of Proper Waste Disposal
Location: South Dagon Township, Yangon Region
Duration: One month (6.2.2025 to 28.2.2025)

The Challenges Addressed

How can we effectively prepare to ensure that participants in climate change awareness sessions on proper waste disposal will genuinely apply what they learn in practice?

Overview of Concept and Approach

During the rainy season, our neighborhoods frequently experience flooding due to blocked waterways. The problem is not just the heavy rain, but also the waste that clogs the drains, obstructing water flow and causing water to accumulate in the streets. To address this, we aim to educate the community on proper waste disposal practices, demonstrating how systematic waste management can prevent such disasters and improve the environment. We are committed to raising awareness and ensuring that everyone understands the importance of proper waste disposal in preventing flooding and protecting public health.

The Impact of Our Initiative

Once the community members learn how to properly dispose of waste, they will share this knowledge with everyone around them, including those in their immediate surroundings and their networks.

Community Engagement

Representatives from local community organizations, influential figures in the village, and those involved in community development will collaborate to implement these initiatives.

Innovation and Creativity

When educating the community about proper waste disposal, it’s important to avoid long speeches. Instead, we should use memorable visuals, incorporate games, and encourage interactive discussions of questions and answers to make the learning process more engaging and effective.

Sustainability & Duplicability

It is important to follow up every three months to assess whether proper waste disposal habits are being practiced and to provide ongoing education on the topic.

Additional Information

Poor water flow in the village leads to numerous negative consequences, causing health issues and other difficulties for the community. By properly disposing of waste, we can improve water flow, which will, in turn, improve public health and the overall well-being of the community.

We invite you to support and vote for our project to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable community. Your vote will help us take meaningful action towards improving waste management and water flow, ensuring a better future for all. Thank you for your support!
