Nominee Video: Beating Plastic Pollution Short Film Competition (UN-Habitat Myanmar)

Let’s refuse plastic to make Putao rivers more beautiful!

Putao, the northernmost town of Kachin State, Myanmar, is the source of the Great Ayeyarwady River. When I was young, the rivers in Putao were very clean and beautiful. We swam in them, walked by them, and enjoyed their beauty.

Putao’s rivers are now overflowing with plastic. Plastic pollution is increasing, and these plastics are entering the Irrawaddy River.

We need to appreciate the nature of these beautiful rivers. The greatest way to combat plastic pollution is to avoid using single-use plastics. When we go shopping, we should avoid using single-use plastic bags.

We can all do our part to restore the beauty of the Putao rivers. Let’s set a good example by refusing single-use plastics. I believe that local people in the Putao region can refuse single-use plastic and create a better world.
